When looking to train your abs and shape them into a nice looking v-shaped six-pack, men and women alike can use similar workout routines to get the job done. Many times women seem scared to pick up any weights to help reach their fitness goals because they think it may make them look to big and bulky. That’s just simply not true unless you train yourself to get that way.

Men and women both should use workouts like the deadlift and squat that require the lifting of weights to speed up their metabolism and burn belly fat. there are also a number of great ab workouts for men and women to use that specifically work on strengthening the core section. here are four ab workouts that I suggest you plug into your workout routine next time you go to the gym.

The first ab workout that will make your abs feel the burn is called the mountain climber. This exercise doesn’t require the use of any weights but you can always add ankle weights to make it more difficult.

To perform a mountain climber, set your self on the floor in the push-up position. the move will just consist of you shuffling your knees up towards your arms back and fourth as though you were climbing a mountain but staying in place.

The second ab workout is the renegade dumbbell rows. This ab workout is started in the same as the last, the push-up position, only this time you will be holding dumbbells in your hands and supporting yourself up on the dumbbells. then the move consists of you rowing one dumbbell up while keeping the rest of your body still. Bring it back down and rotate to the other arm and bring the other dumbbell up.

Get a stability or swiss ball for the third of these ab workouts for men and women. This is a simple move and is just an ab crunch using the swiss ball. place your self on the ball so your are sitting in a crunch position with your feet flat on the floor and head back. Now just move up in a crunch position. the ball will force you to use more of your abs to balance yourself than a normal floor crunch would.

The last ab workout is the hanging leg raise. Elevate your self off the floor on a chin up bar or anything that you can hang from your arms with off of the floor. Now simply raise your legs up towards your chest with your knees bent. Hold it there for a count then slowly bring it down to the starting position.

These four ab workouts for men and women are sure to make your abs stronger and your core section more stabilized and tone. keep in mind to use a healthy diet and some high intensity training to burn that belly fat off, otherwise you’ll be left with strong abs that won’t be visible under a thick layer of fat.

Lift More, Weigh Less

When most women think of weight lifting, they often picture swollen muscles and impossibly heavy barbells. But weight lifting does not necessarily translate into large muscles or mass building. in fact, it’s next to impossible for women to make any significant increases in body mass at all.

The truth of the matter is that even women MUST utilize some form of weight lifting and strength training to achieve ANY desirable response from their exercise program. Participating in countless hours of cardio and calorie deprivation may help you lose a little bit of weight, but it will never help you achieve the lean, toned physique that you desire.

The beauty and the power of weight lifting is that it’s versatile and can still be tailored to meet anyone’s individual fitness goals. There’s good news out there for you ladies who think that you’ll “get big” if you lift weights – you’re genetically incapable of developing large muscles because of insufficient hormones. Sorry ladies, you just don’t have enough testosterone to build the Arnold Schwarzenegger physique!

What weight lifting WILL do for you is help you develop stronger, leaner muscles that will aid you in battling two of the biggest threats to female health – heart disease and osteoporosis. You absolutely need resistance training in your regimen to strengthen your heart and maintain bone density.

So what about fat burning? Glad you asked. If it’s fat burning or an improved body composition that you desire, lifting weights is a must. As the size of your muscle fibers increase, so does the amount of energy that your body burns during exercise and even at rest. think having your body burning more calories at rest is a good thing to have on your side if you’re trying to lose weight? You betcha!

Properly structured weight lifting even increases your resting metabolic rate, making it easier for your body to burn fat throughout the day. this can be a very attractive benefit for women, who experience a more dramatic slowing of metabolism with age than men.

If the fat loss benefits of weight lifting are not enough for you, consider the other healthy benefits that you can get from it. Adding resistance training to your exercise regimen also strengthens your ligaments and tendons, thus giving your joints a stronger support system and reducing your risk of injury. Maintaining a strong musculoskeletal system will also help you improve your posture and reduce your risk of developing any painful imbalances.

On top of all these benefits that weight lifting provides, it’s also cool to know that strength training is super convenient and easy to incorporate. whether you choose to use free weights, resistance bands or even your own body weight, you can always find tools that cater to your preferences. with so many options at your finger tips, there’s no reason you can’t mold the body that YOU want!

I am 19, I weight about 97 lbs. and I am 5,1 in height… I don't really workout but i would like to get in shape ( not to lose weight I just want to tone up ) what are so good ways to build upper body strength without having to go to the gym.

you can maybe do some push ups or pull ups. or maybe you can lift a little bit of weights. hope this helps.

What are some good upper body workouts for women?

When are women going to get through the glass ceiling?

0saves

For example:

1. how many female weight lifters are there?
2. how many brands of beer are targeted at women?
3. how many women do you see playing rugby?
4. how many women have never used a bra and shaved their legs?
5. how many women have never had at least one period?
6. how many women do you meet with a voice deeper than Sylvester Stallone's?

The list just goes on.

1. QUITE ALOT ACTUALLY. but most do not want to, maybe thats fear of being seen as ugly in society, but there ARE quite alot. I lift weights.

2. it would be a waste of money to target beers to women. not many like it, I don't.

3. Fine, go play rugby, don't come crying to me when you land on your boobs and get kneed in the womb.

4. once again, LOADS! And it can hurt when you run without a bra, and not many like saggy ones in their older years.

5. WTF! THATS BIOLOGICAL!

6. ONCE AGAIN, BIOLOGICAL! FFS

Feminists like you annoy the hell out of me. And IM a woman. I can understand social constructions, such as girls playing with dolls and cooking sets when they are younger, and boys playing football, I could agree with that. I can understand a woman in her 30's not getting the job cause she might get preggers. (Well i'm a total marxist and I hate all businesses so … i kinda yeah)

ALSO, it is a FACT BIOLOGICALLY women build muscle mass a tentth of what men do. It's very difficult to be a female body builder without steroids.

You're arguing against biological matters. Seriousy? how many women play rugby? maybe some would if they wouldnt land on their boobs, that seriously hurts you know.

Your arguments are just stupid.

1. they can if they want
2. Men buy the majority of beer.
3. Form a league then
4. your choice, if you want to do it!
5. how many men get the choice during pregnancy. Can't have one without the other.
6. I've seen them.

This is the stupidest thing I have seen in a while. God I hope you're kidding!

1. there are a lot.

2. I prefer whiskey.

3. Never saw any,don't care.

4.Some women choose not to wear a bra or shave.

5. Women have periods, and it's nothing to be ashamed of.

6. Some women do have deep voices. They're usually smokers.

1. they can if they want to but it is kinda ugly.
2. Women general don't like beer.
3. they don't want to
4. Go to Islamic countries
5. Michale JAckson
6. Michelle Obama

Those are silly differences, looks like your the only one bumping a glass ceiling.

When those complainers see a psychiatrist, then he will tell them how.

They've been allowed shoes for a while now.

When are women going to get through the glass ceiling?

Is there any happy medium in Female Bodybuilding?

0saves

That is where women can workout, get strong, build muscle, stay feminine and avoid the nasty 'roid' remarks? I say that because I believe this endeavor receives too much negativity.

The kinder word is body sculpting (doesn't seem to scare females off as easily). the short of it is that as a woman you'll be hard pressed to reveal separation within your arms, chest, etc. simply because a healthy body fat percentage for women is 5-10% higher than it is for a male. You'll also find it difficult to increase muscle mass noticeably (not to be sexist) at all as women simply lack the testosterone (naturally) to do so.

To stay elegant and natural / lean and toned looking you'd incorporate a few weights sessions along side your cardio every week. do not be concerned about how heavy the weights you're lifting are, just pick the best feel; you won't bulk up like a male would.

Buns and Things – Hints for Women’s Workouts

If you’re parallel to a lot of other women, you want to be knowledgeable of which workouts for the thighs and buns are most efficient. To some level, this is subject to what you desire to attain and it’s additionally subject to how you desire to exercise due to people not typically being steady at doing workouts they loathe. what we’ll be looking at in this article are some of the best workouts for lower body to help you lose fat and firm up.

When it comes to working your thighs, the squat is an excellent basic yet it is a rather efficient fitness routine that you should be doing. You can perform these with or without weights. If you’re not accustomed to working out with weights, you may want to try doing free squats first. You stand with your feet shoulder width apart, then squat and continue to have your back straight and your thighs parallel to the ground. If you make use of weights, you can use either barbells or dumbbells, and if you go to a gym there will be a particular squat rack where you can do this exercise. Attempt to add to the amount of repetitions you do every few workouts.

Kettle bells are an effective way to work out your entire body. Originating in Russia, kettle bells, a type of dumbbell, are designed to increase flexibility and endurance as well as strength. They come in all different weights and you can buy them at sporting supply stores or online. first, you should consult a certified kettle bell instructor or buy a DVD that will teach you how to use them properly. these workouts are a great way to burn fat while toning your body because they focus as much on aerobics as they do toning.

One of the most ideal exercises you can perform for your thighs, hips and buns is riding a bike. this can stretch from riding a bicycle around your neighborhood, mountain biking on jagged grounds or a stationary bicycle in a gym. the activity is the same in all instances, and a thirty minute or more fitness routine performed on a bicycle can be amazing for your lower body. this is also an effective way to burn calories while you’re improving your endurance and toning your muscles. If you’re riding a bike, going uphill will obviously be more challenging and work your muscles harder and if you’re in the gym you can accomplish the same by increasing the resistance.

While bodybuilding routines for the buns and thighs can be demanding, a lot of the exercise you can do for these areas can also be amusing. the more enjoyable you find your exercise program, the more motivated you’ll be do it on schedule and keep doing it until you get results. We’ve given some ideas for workouts in this article, and you may want to try one or more of them either at home or at the gym.

Youth Strength Training:Programs for Health, Fitness and Sport (Strength & Power for Young Athlete)Youth Strength Training:Programs for Health, Fitness and Sport (Strength & Power for Young Athlete)Age-specific sport, fitness, and health programs for kids 7 to 18

The benefits of strength training for youth are clearly documented. Yet teachers, fitness instructors, and youth coaches are often not sure how to proceed, and they end up watering down adult versions of strength-training programs.

That is definitely not the way to go. But authors Avery Faigenbaum and Wayne Westcott, with their 50 years of combined experience in teaching youth strength-training classes and coaching, can tell you the way to go--and back it with the most current research on instructional techniques and program design for youth.

Long recognized as leading authorities on strength training, Faigenbaum and Westcott guide you in designing efficient, enjoyable, and productive programs for kids of varying abilities in elementary school (ages 7 to 10), middle school (11 to 14), and high school (15 to 18). You will focus first on broad-based, balanced muscle development, and then move into comprehensive, sport-specific strength-training programs.

In addition, Youth Strength Training will teach you
  • productive protocols for warming up and cooling down;
  • procedures for enhancing joint flexibility;
  • innovative ways to incorporate resistance exercises into physical education classes, sport practice sessions, and exercise facilities; and
  • proper exercise technique for 111 resistance exercises using weight stack machines, free weights, medicine balls, elastic bands, and body-weight resistance.

Much has changed since the authors first wrote a book on strength training for youth, and those changes--including information in the areas of nutrition, hydration, and recovery to maximize the effects of strength training and minimize the risks of overtraining--are incorporated in this book. Additional changes, based on the authors' studies, are reflected in workout frequency, exercise repetitions, related training components, and other factors that affect program design and conditioning results. All programs were fashioned with the latest NASPE standards in mind.

Faigenbaum and Westcott have included new information on periodization and long-term planning, perceived exertion scale for youth, overtraining and undertraining, dynamic warm-ups and static stretches, new exercises, effective instruction of youth, and plyometrics.

Through strength training, kids as young as 7 can safely develop a strong musculoskeletal system that can help them improve their health and fitness and also withstand the rigors of sport participation.

Youth Strength Training is the definitive source to guide you in designing and overseeing the programs of the kids you work with, whether you're in a school, fitness center, or home setting. If you want to see high rates of strength development and spark a lifelong interest in strength-building activities, rely on Youth Strength Training.
